This Renee award was created by Bella and Ces in honour of their friend Renee. In Bella’s own words “this is a brand new award and I have the pleasure and honor of spreading the seed, watching it grow. I hope it finds it’s way to those who are like Renee: the acorn, a small package becoming a tall and sturdy oak, giving more acorns, becoming tall and sturdy oaks, giving acorns…”

Help Mel and 105 Other Women Live Their Dreams!
Regular readers of this blog and friends of Votre Vray Creative Women project know 75 women artists were interviewed in the summer of 2008 not only to share their stories of living creative lives, but also to promote their work. Some of you might even know that I, Mel Edwards, was fortunate enough to win a scholarship to BlogHer ‘09 Conference in Chicago to be held in July. What you don’t know is the plan to pay it forward.
May 15th and 16th I’ll hold the Grab Your Truth weekend, complete with a free showing of Shout: Kiss My Art! on Friday night and mini-workshop on Saturday morning for 40 women who want to begin living their creative dreams but cannot afford to pay full price for the event. (The Weekend to Grab Your Truth costs $50 per participant without any frills or any compensation going to me for putting it all together.) For now, I’ve slapped the debt onto a credit card and crossed my fingers that people will donate knowing doing so will help the 75 Votre Vray Creative Women gain media and customer attention, help 40 more women get on their path to living their truth, and help me gain recognition for my work, and perhaps enough money to fund my train ticket and/or hotel expenses at BlogHer ‘09.

Pink by Kimberly Kelly Santini
Kimberly Kelly Santini, artist behind Turtle Dove Designs and Paining a Dog a day, has captured the hearts and eyes of jurors and judges at the Art Show at the Dog Show with her painting “Pink” featuring Best Friend’s Animal Santuary dog Theresa holding a pink ball. Kim won third place for her 8″ square arcrylic on canvas board piece that honors the lively gal.
Art lovers looking to purchase a work from Art Show at the Dog Show could visit their website for details. Also, if you cannot make it to the show, the rest of the winners will be posted on the site in coming days. Until then, take a minute to congratulate Kimberly on her achievement!

Mel Edwards’ Votre Vray has been named business protege for Professional Network Connections of Greenville Metro Business Network. This honor gives Mel Edwards’ Votre Vray one year of membership in the network and key meeting time twice a month to gain assistance from the network in growing Votre Vray.

Thanks to Gwynne’s fine example, advice and kindness and Terri duking it out with my web host, The Creative Truth is now available in a template I love via WorldPress. Woot!
